QwikComposer™ is a patented hands-on music-composition-and-notation system for public and private music teachers of grades pre-K through college; parents and grandparents who want to augment their family’s music education; and music students, musicians who want a hands-on way to better understand notation and theory. The QwikComposer™ system comes in two different types of materials that offer the same hands-on learning of music notation.
The Magnetic QwikComposer™: In this version, Plexiglas magnetic note tiles, proportionate in width as their symbols are in duration, fit into colorful magnetic measures that, in turn, attach to magnetic whiteboards. A vast array of additional magnetic symbols accompanies set to give a user every symbol or tool he would want to compose.
The Static Cling QwikComposer™: Clear static cling note tiles, also exactly proportionate in width as their symbols are in duration, also fit onto colorful static cling measures which themselves attach white smooth surfaces.
One feature of the note tiles that teachers love are the small dotted “locating marks” that are etched onto the sides of each tile. These marks help students easily see that their notes must be placed on either lines or spaces. Not both. Again, when items fit like a puzzle, chances are the composition can be read as the student intended it.
How QwikComposer™ differs from other music notation products: *Unlike computer programs, students using QwikComposer™ can feel and see how note values precisely interact together. Acrylic note tiles are 1/16" and each note and the accompanying brackets, as well as the word "up" are all etched into every tile.
*Unlike printed music where measure spacing can vary widely according to the number of notes in a measure, QwikComposer™ measure are always proportionate to the width and value of its note tiles. Its note tiles fit snugly side-by-side. When there are no empty spaces or overlapping tiles, the measures are accurately filled.
*QwikComposer™ doesn’t replace traditional pencil and manuscript notations. It augments them!
Unlike expensive computer systems that propose to make the extremely important skills of writing obsolete, QwikComposer™ is instead a first-tier notation system that quickly and easily increases the accuracy of one’s notation before they commit their ideas to paper.
*QwikComposer™ simultaneously teaches while it is being used!
The relative widths of note tiles and measures all reveal proportionality. Storage areas for the notes feature labels with note names and note symbols for every single note. As students work with the note tiles, they naturally pick up these important concepts.
*QwikComposer™ is sold in leveled and add-on packages. Its notes, symbols, measures and notation tools range from pre-reading or basic icons and measures to polyphonic and polymetric orchestrations.
*QwikComposer™ tiles, measures and whiteboard platforms can be written on with whiteboard markers.
Quick phrasings, lyrics, symbols, questions, mathematical connections or any other markings can written as the user chooses. Clearly, the marriage of QwikComposer™ and whiteboard markers is one made in heaven.
*With QwikComposer™ people anywhere in the world can create compositions with instant results and instant notation accuracy. What more could a music student, teacher or beginning songwriter ask for? Imagine it!
Clear tiles fit precisely into measures
Each clear note tile is proportionate in its width to illustrate the numbers of beats or parts of beats that it should receive in that measure. Note tiles easily slide onto the measures and can be quickly removed.
QwikComposer™ note tiles on a staved 4-4 measure. Both the Magnetic and Static Cling note tiles and measures have identical proportions.
The days of wild notes encircling 3 staff lines are over! The brackets on the sides of each note tile show students that notes need lined up to match the bracket. Either the dashes on the side line up with the staff line or the dotted brackets match up with the spaces of the staves.
Kids love the feel of the Plexiglas note tiles. They are extremely durable and all the black markings are actually etched onto it. They are so tactile that even blind students can learn how to notate!
Musicians of all levels can see how notes fit together like puzzles. When note tiles fit snugly side-by-side the measure is complete.
Naturally clef, time signature, key signatures, dynamics and lots of other symbols are all included in the QC sets.
